Sunny is a graduate of Vanguard University with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in bothCommunications and Theatre.  It was during his time here that he learned  combining his passion for both stage and screen he could create some amazing live theatre. This culminated in his staging of William Shakespeare Hamlet in which he was able to blend live action and filmed elements in an engaging and captivating way.  In a review by Tom Titus for the LA Times (Daily Pilot)  he would call Sunny a “Genius” for his directing.  Sunny was named Orange County’s Theatre Man of The Year the same year for his abilities in directing and for his performance as the mischievous Scapino in the title role. Sunny invited back to Vanguard University to direct Neil Simon’s fools and teach as an adjunct professor of theatre semester after his graduation.

Upon graduating Sunny moved to Los Angeles where he began working in Production Development at Di-No Entertainment under the guidance of Producer Noah Rosen (Dan in Real Life) who taught him the importance of Preproduction.  He also let Sunny drive his Audi TT around Hollywood which made those trips to the post office a thrill.   But the long days reading scripts in the office just wasn’t for him.

Hungry to be back in production Sunny left to pursue his own independent projects.  This crazy decision led to the founding of Market Fresh Produce with his friend and writing partner Ed Portillo.  The goal of this troupe started out as a means to showcase their sketch comedy around Los Angeles but soon grew to incorporate staging full theatrical productions.  With Market Fresh Produce Sunny would direct Well Written an Original Work by Co-Founding Member Tim Larson in its West Coast Premier.  Then the following year the group put up George Orwell’s 1984.  Again Sunny was able to direct and incorporate both live theatre and filmed elements for the stage, which Joel Beer in a review for The OC Weekly would commend as “marvelous.”

Sunny has trained at the Groundlings School of Comedy and is an Alumni of the IO West Training Center for Improvisation. It was this training and passion for Improvisation that landed Sunny as role of Demetrius the Blind in the feature length comedy spoof “305” and as the voice of Butter in the award winning short “Meltdown.”  Sunny also performs long form improv on the IO West Mains Stage with his team Kick Drum Decade.  Winners of the 2008 and 2009 Los Angeles Improv Comedy Festival Cage Match Championship.

Currently Sunny is raising funding with his producing partner Erik Yeager for their film The Narrow Road an adaptation of “The Pilgrim’s Progress” which he will direct.  http://www.SunnyPeabody.comshapeimage_2_link_0
